Performing the Faith
From Alastair comes this excellent post called "How Gutenberg Took the Bible from Us: Some thoughts on the Ontology of the Scriptures." A choice snippet:
Here's the rest, which is highly recommended.

The ubiquity of the printed text makes it very difficult for us to recover a more Christian engagement with the Scripture. Even within the gathered worship of the people of God, people are incessantly reading their printed Bibles. This is akin to someone attending a production of Hamlet and paying little attention to what is taking place on the stage because he is too busy reading along in the text.

Thanks Eric. Those are great! How is the wedding planning going?
Peace,
Scott
Hi Scott!
Thanks. Wedding planning is going well. A little over a month away. We have the huge things done, so now it's a bunch of little things to get in order. I've been slowly moving into our new apartment where I'll be staying by myself until Tiana and I get back from our honeymoon. My computer is all setup here now, which is nice -- I need it for some sidejobs and whatnot.
One of those sidejobs is that I'm now doing the website for John Milbank and Conor Cunningham's Centre of Theology and Philosophy! Crazy, huh?! There's plenty of new content on there: new papers by these folk, and I've even setup a blog/forum for them. Now I just got to get them to write in it! ;)
How are things working out in TN?
Peace,
Eric
